About the Initiative

Murder.

Rape.

Kidnapping.

Incest.

Genocide.

Unforgivable, right? Most Americans think so.

As a result, 80% of Americans have been deeply hurt or harmed by another person. Only half of us have forgiven and moved on. The rest remain mired in debilitating consequences impacting our mental state and physical health.

Many are angry, some want revenge.

Millions cannot – or will not – let go.

Google records 5 million searches a month for the phrase “how to let go.” Most want to move on, but few know how.

Complicating all of this is the startling revelation that 3 out of 4 Americans confess that we have done something for which we must beg forgiveness. Almost half of us cannot forgive ourselves for what we’ve done.

Something inside us is broken.

Buried in our innermost being, we have hidden painful memories of deeds done to us and deeds done by us … and we have no desire to bring these into the light.

And so we walk on, going without the healing that would allow us to be free once and for all.

Pastors preach on forgiveness regularly. Top authors write books on the subject. Hundreds of songs have been sung. Thousands of stories have been shared. Christ Himself addressed the subject numerous times in the gospels.

And yet…

We do not heal. We are not free. We have not let go.

But there is hope.

A new LOVE and FORGIVENESS initiative has been started online to help us get on with our lives. TIMETOLETGO.ORG is a free Christian resource offering hope and help to those who want to explore the intersection of FAITH and FORGIVENESS. It is both a hub of information and a center for conversation. The best writings, videos, songs, films, quotes and thoughts centered on LOVE and FORGIVENESS will be gathered here. New content will be added regularly. The site will be real and relevant. It will be controversial in that contributors and users will be asked to converse on current world news and events, sparking real-time introspection and debate.

The purpose behind the initiative is clear: it is time to obey Christ’s very difficult command…

“Forgive and be forgiven.”

The site will creatively explore four vital aspects of forgiveness…

  1. God forgives me
  2. I forgive myself
  3. I forgive others
  4. Others forgive me

It is our hope that the site will not only aggregate volumes of fresh data and opinions on the topic, but could spark a movement toward hope and healing that will impact Christian culture for decades.

It is time to let go.
